This month’s tour takes us to one of our wrap-around extensions in SE14.

At this Wraparound extension project in SE14 we have designed and built a 30SQM addition to create a spacious and open plan 50SQM kitchen and dining space, with a dedicated area for a home office, giving this growing family of four all the space they need to live, work and entertain.
Four large Velux windows flood the space with natural light while the full length exposed brick wall adds warmth and texture. The set of full width sliding doors to the rear open onto a patio area covered by a beautiful glass canopy connecting the inside and outside together.

FAQ
See what our clients have asked about the most in the past. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for, feel free to contact us.
Design - We advise clients to allow 12 weeks for the Design Phase. This allows 2 weeks to survey the property, amend your design and for your designer to prepare and submit the Planning Application. Planning generally takes 8 weeks, and the final 2 weeks allows for our team to produce your Structural Calculations and Buildsing Regulation Drawings.
Build - A typical Ground Floor Extension will take about 12 weeks to build, but this can vary in length depending on the specification of the project. For example, opting for an all-glass roof adds 2 to 4 weeks onto the build. Our team will offer an estimate on the Build duration which is tailored to your project and personal preferences prior to the Build.
The Party Wall Act is a piece of legislation that helps to ensure one person’s building works don’t adversely affect a neighbour’s property. If you are undertaking a home extension, you might be required to serve Notice to your neighbour( s) before you can carry out the Build.
We will always do our best to accommodate any changes onsite but it does depend on how much notice we are
given. You will be in close communication with your Project Manager so they’ll be able to tell you when we need
confirmed decisions.
We do offer our design clients unlimited design amendments so we recommend that you take advantage of this
service and really experiment during the Design Phase. We would also recommend popping along to one of our
House Tours so you can see how designs look in reality.
A number of our clients choose to move out during the works, however it’s perfectly possible to live in. If you want to do that, we can even create a temporary kitchen until your new kitchen extension is ready. One point to bear in mind is that if your property doesn't have rear access, then we’ll have to bring everything through the house. If that’s the case, we will always fully protect the hallway and any floor surfaces.
For both Design & Build, you will receive one dedicated Architectural Designer or Project Manager who will manage your project from the start to end. They will be in close communication with you throughout the process and they’ll be on hand to answer any questions.

Meet the Team
Dan Davidson
Dan began his career as a marketing graduate at Sainsbury's. He then went on to further his banking career at Barclays for a period of 10 years which culminated in his role of Corporate Director in Business Services. In 2007, Dan said goodbye to a career in banking and founded Build Team, a home extension specialist that offers a Design & Build service to homeowners across London. Dan lives in Dulwich with his wife and two sons and enjoys cycling, tennis and skiing. He is a trustee to the Board of Groundwork London, a charity established in 1982, which aims to support local economies to promote environmental sustainability, and to provide young people with support and employment opportunities to further their careers.
Mark Eden
As one of the two founders of Build Team, Mark oversees the Project Management Team and ensures the smooth running of the business. Mark completed his academic studies in 2002 and qualified as a PRINCE2 practitioner. With experience in both residential and commercial project management, he ensures our builds are quality focused and completed on time.
David Abimbola
David graduated in Architecture from Kingston University in London. He oversees the Architectural Design Team and ensures the smooth running of the Design Process. He loves travelling the world to see how different cultures interpret design. His favourite city (so far) is Chandigarh in India, and he is a keen admirer of Le Corbusier, a French-Swiss Architect.
Steven Davidson
Steven grew up in Wales and moved to Scotland when he was 11. He completed his studies and obtained a MA in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh. He moved to London shortly after and joined Build Team. Steven enjoys football and rugby, and particularly enjoys cycling to client meetings and site visits.
Tess Ingle
Tess grew up in Sheffield before moving to Newcastle to study Interior Architecture at Northumbria University. After graduating Tess went travelling getting the chance to explore different cultures and architecture from around the world. She settled in Australia for two years before recently returning back to the UK to pursue her passion for architecture and design. Tess is excited by her recent move to London and enjoys visiting all the different neighbourhoods of London in her spare time.

Our Virtual House Tours are an exciting opportunity to not only see projects designed and built by us, but to also hear from the homeowners themselves after having had the chance to settle in and enjoy their new extension.
For each tour we are joined by members of the Architectural and Construction Teams, including our CEO and Construction Director, who will discuss the project and how we work at Build Team. Following this there is the chance to ask your own questions as part of a Q&A with all those involved.

Our Previous Tours
Thorpedale Road
As part of the renovation to this family home in Finsbury Park we added an 11SQM Wraparound extension which infills the side return and goes out to the rear by 1.5 meters, forming a 25SQM kitchen and dining space.
The extension is flooded with natural light by the four large Architectural Skylights along the side return and the full-width Crittall
doors to the garden.
We also undertook a full refurbishment of the ground floor, restoring original features and adding a Crittall screen between the front
reception rooms - this isn't a project you want to miss!
