An increasing number of modern families are using their kitchens as living spaces, rather than just places to cook, which is why side return extensions are growing in popularity. But where do you live and cook while the building work is being carried out? Do you need to move out?
The good news is no, you don’t have to move out while your side return is being built, because Build Team have come up with solutions to minimise disruption and make the process as smooth and as easy as possible.
Many customers worry that their home will be covered in dust and dirt, but we take steps to minimise this through setting up a temporary hording. This keeps the living areas separate from the area where the building work takes place.
Another concern that our customers have is where they will carry out their cooking during the project. Don’t worry – we will take care of this by setting up a temporary kitchen. You might want to consider using things like a slow cooker or microwave to minimise the amount of cooking you need to do whilst the work is taking place.
Lastly, we make sure that the internal hallway, steps and path are protected from any damage during building work to give you piece of mind.
So, as you can see, you don’t necessarily have to move out while your side return is being built. Obviously it helps if all of the family are out during the day. We suggest that if you have young children, you may find it easier to find alternative accommodation or somewhere less noisy for them to be during the day. We would also suggest that pets stay with relatives or alternative accommodation for some of the time during the build. We will go through the whole process with you before work gets underway and will discuss any concerns you may have. Rest assured your project is in safe hands with us and we are sure you will be delighted with the outcome!
