Real Homes has featured one of our favourite projects in their April edition. This project is in Stroud Green, North London and is a ground floor extension to a ground floor flat. When the homeowners started their design journey, they wanted to increase the size of their master bedroom and add some light into their kitchen. We suggested they flip the orientation of the flat around, and move the master bedroom to the front of the property. This opened up the rear of the property to a world of possibility, and gave them the larger bedroom they originally wanted.
With the extension, we added a courtyard to adhere to local planning policy; this also ensured that the second bedroom kept natural light and ventilation. We then created three zones within the space left over, allowing for a kitchen, dining and living area.
